CHAPTER TWELVE

Margo

Margo stared up at the palace as the car crept around the large circular driveway. In this moment, it felt like a freaking movie or a dream. She couldn’t believe she was about to be inside this place again. The first time was already filling her head, but in the light of day this huge building shined.

Liam stepped out first then extended his hand like he had when they were at the docks. She took it, and they walked inside. Several people met them just inside the doors. A few smiled warm welcomes while others stayed completely stone cold. She swallowed hard as Liam pulled her past them.

“Haily, please secure Margo’s belongings from her place with two of the guards. Only the food and furniture should remain.”

A woman with a tight braid at the end of the line bowed her head. “Of course.” She stepped away with her head held high.

“Hey, short stuff, I’m her BFF. Try and stop me, and I might kick your ass.” Ginger’s voice trailed into the room and Margo turned. Without thinking about it, she raced over to Ginger and pulled her into a hug right outside the doors.

Margo had feared the camera monsters would’ve done something to her. Irrational probably, but still a fear all the same.

“See!” she yelled at the guard who stood taller than even Liam.

“Dustin, please place Ginger Turner on the approved list.” Liam spoke behind Margo, but she didn’t turn toward him. Something inside her felt off while inside his domain.

“Of course.” Dustin bowed and pulled out his phone, snapping an image of Ginger then of Margo. “Welcome to the palace.” He gave her a small smile then resumed his post by the door.

“Ladies.” Liam motioned inside, and Margo held Ginger’s hand as they stepped inside.

“What happened when we left?”

“Oh, those guys bolted after taking pictures of your shit. Like it could make them a million bucks. I started hitting them with your bat. Might have broken a lens.” She rubbed her lips together.

“Damn, girl.”

“And that Belle bitch. Fire her. She let them inside as soon as she left. Like she expected it to happen,” Ginger huffed.

As if hearing her name, the woman strolled inside with her phone in her hands.

“I’d never do that.” She fluttered her eye lashes. Seeing the woman looking all perfect sent a sense of anger and jealousy surging through Margo.

Without warning, Margo snatched the phone from Belle’s hands, and she screamed out. Ginger blocked Belle as Margo pulled up her recent messages.

“Thanks for the tip. BNN sent that to you a minute ago. Oh, and even sent a photo of me in my freaking bedroom.” Margo showed Liam then lifted the phone toward Belle. “You were saying?”

“The press wanted to see your place. I didn’t find it a disaster zone or unclean, so I told them to come on up. I was protecting your image.” Belle reached for her phone, and Margo yanked it back then slammed it on the ground, shattering the screen protector.
